What makes a video captivating? Gripping? What makes you want to watch a video several times, in a row, and pass it on to every being that you come into contact with? How many videos are truly memorable?

In a content-hungry world where visual media can make or break a company, it is vital that you ask these kind of questions. Most importantly, how do you create compelling video content?

In June 2014, Cisco released a Visual Networking Index (VNI) Forecast, for 2013 – 2018, in which it stated, that by 2018, there will be nearly four billion global Internet users (more than 51 percent of the world’s population), up from 2.5 billion in 2013. As well as this, Cisco have forecasted by 2016, 55 percent of all consumer Internet traffic will be video.

With a forever growing audience, and increasingly visual audience (4 billion hours of video viewed each month), it is important that your videos stand out from the crowd, have focus, and above all lead to a return on investment.

Ensure thorough planning takes place, before video production. Does your video have a clear message ? Who is your target audience? What is the video’s end goal?

Know your audience. What will engage them? What will appeal to them?

What kind of emotion do you want your video to evoke? Empathy? Humour?

Make sure your video is aesthetically pleasing – does it capture your viewer’s attention?

Do you have the right knowledge to create a compelling video? A skilled crew?

Ultimately, will the viewer want to buy into your brand?

Once you have thought about all these questions, and decided that video is the best medium to promote your brand, it’s time to go ahead and make your film. But if you lack the knowledge and technical skill it can be a daunting process.

At Kartoffel Films we have the resources, people and expertise to help you make the video you want. Get in touch for more information.
