Charity Video News – Local Charities
The majority of British people believe in the importance of local charities and believe they play a significant role in their communities. Yet nine out of ten people cannot name more than one local charity in their area. And over a third of those surveyed are completely unaware of local charities in their communities and have no knowledge of the work these charities do.
The value of local charities are not in question. People believe in them and value the work they do. But there is an opportunity here for local charities to reach out to their communities to share more about the great work they do. The support for local charities already exists, as is shown by over half of those surveyed believing in the importance of local charities. What is lacking though is knowledge about local charities and their work.
It can be hard to reach out with limited budgets, but there are some cost effective methods that local charities can take advantage of. Social media could be a great way to reach out to the local community. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. are all great resources that only cost time. Use these tools to share the story behind what your charity does and why. It can be as simple as uploading a daily picture, inspirational quote, or video. With smartphones it can be easy to create short videos to connect and engage with your audiences. Or consider investing in a professional video. Video has been proven to be a highly effective marketing tool with a great ROI. Another avenue to explore is reaching out to your community’s local publications to see if they could feature your charity in a story.
It can still be difficult for local charities to compete with national and international charities. But your community is already on your side, the majority of them already believe in local charities without really knowing anything about them. Try different ways of sharing your story and you’ll be surprised at who else you reach.
