Easter is here!
And with it comes mountains of chocolate and bunny-shaped treats. While most of us know that lots of Easter goodies are headed our way this weekend, here are some things about Easter you might not know:
Over 90 million chocolate eggs are sold in the UK each year.
The UK market for chocolate easter eggs is worth over £220 million!
Every child in the UK receives, on average, 8.8 Easter eggs each year – that’s more than double the recommended calorie intake for a week!
The first chocolate egg in the UK was made by Fry’s of Bristol in 1873.
The most popular chocolate egg in the world is Cadbury’s Creme Egg – the Cadbury factory in Birmingham produces 1.5 million yummy eggs every single day!
The Cadbury Creme Egg first appeared in 1971, making this year its 44th birthday.
76% of people agree – you should always eat the ears off your chocolate bunny first.
Easter chocolate sales account for 10% of the UK’s chocolate spending for the entire year!
